Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you are planning on travelling distance to attractions, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

RSPB Ribble Discovery Centre Reserve

Come to our visitor centre on the edge of Fairhaven Lake. It's the gateway to the north side of the Ribble Estuary - the most important single river estuary in the UK - which attracts over 270,000 birds each year. You'll get good views of the estuary nearby and the lake itself attracts wintering ducks. The centre is open all year round and has a full programme of events. Fairhaven Lake offers peaceful seaside activities and has pram- and wheelchair-friendly walks with toilet and cafe facilities.
In summer we're open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. During the summer term the centre may be closed for school visits, but the shop will be open at these times. Please call us first to check the centre is open. During winter, come and see us anytime from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm.
It's free!
Come on one of our monthly guided walks (September to June). They're very good for beginners, as the birds are at close range on both the Lake and Estuary.
Families are at the heart of the Ribble Discovery Centre. Badge-making and colouring are available everyday and we have a full programme of family events all year-round. The centre also has interactive displays at the centre available for use every day.
Dogs are allowed anywhere. They must be kept on leads.
